The recent Hunger Games cast to be announced by Lionsgate is for the role of Wiress. Amanda Plummer will play the character, Deadline reports.
The announcement of Plummer as a cast in the Hunger Games movie sequel Catching Fire was caught on by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, aside from Deadline.
She will join a growing cast that features Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Bank, Woody Harrelson and Lenny Kravitz. Recently, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jena Malone have joined the Hunger Games bandwagon as well.
In Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Wiress is described as a previous victor from District 3. Who knows what will happen in the Quarter Quell, where she must also survive in the arena.
Wiress is paired with Beetee, a Hunger Games cast, in Catching Fire which has yet to be filled. Beetee is the male tribute from District 3.
Plummer is recognized for her role in the movie “Pulp Fiction”.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is slated to be released in theaters on November 22, 2013.
