In less than a month, the rumor of Jena Malone joining as a Hunger Games cast is now official as Lionsgate announced that she will indeed play Johanna Mason in the movie sequel, Catching Fire.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling books, Mason is a former victor who will play a major role in the Quarter Quell – the 75th Hunger Games – and happens to be somewhat of a rival to Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence).
The role of Johanna Mason had a lot of rumors running around before. The grapevine mentioned the names of actress Mia Wasikowska and model Zoe Aggeliki.
With Malone now an official Hunger Games cast, we just have to wait for the announcement from Lionsgate as to who will play Finnick Odair. Sam Claflin is rumored to play the part. Lionsgate has not confirmed or denied the casting rumor.
The Hunger Games Catching Fire is slated to hit theaters on November 22, 2013. It will feature Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Bank, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer and Jena Malone.
