According to E! News, Philip Seymour Hoffman landed as a Hunger Games cast to play Plutarch Heavensbee, the head Capitol Gamemaker of Panem.
The Oscar winning actor, Hoffman, is lined up to join the much anticipated second movie in the Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire.
The negotiations lasted for less than a month if we’ll base it on The Hollywood Reporter’s article which said that the role was offered on June 11 to the award winning actor of Capote. His notable film appearance as of late was with the movie adaptation of Moneyball.
Anyway, the odds seem to be always in Hoffman’s favor as he didn’t have to battle it out with other actors for the role – well, at least, the rumor mill is pretty quiet. Unlike the casting for Johanna Mason or Finnick Odair.
Heavensbee is an exciting Hunger Games character. If you have read the books, it will be hard to determine which side of loyalty he’s leaning on (either Katniss or President Snow).
What do you think of this Catching Fire casting? Do you think Philip Seymour Hoffman is a great fit for the role of the new Head Gamemaker, Plutarch Heavensbee?
