Two-Time Oscar Winner to Rewrite Script for Catching Fire

After the controversial exit of Director Gary Ross from The Hunger Games trilogy, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. is under negotiations with Michael Arndt to revise the script for the upcoming sequel, the Catching Fire.

Arndt – a two-time Oscar winner – won Best Original Screenplay in the film Little Miss Sunshine, as well as Best Adapted Screenplay for the movie Toy Story 3. The original screenplay had already been written by another fellow Oscar winner, Simon Beaufoy, most notably known for writing the screenplay for Slumdog Millionaire.

If Michael Arndt chooses to accept the job, he have to finish the screenplay as shooting is scheduled to start this fall. The film is being rushed due to Jennifer Lawrence’s prior commitment to the X-Men: First Class sequel which will start filming in January, giving them just 4 months to shoot the entire movie.
